MORTUARY ATTENDANT
Job Brief: We are looking for a Mortuary Attendant who will be responsible for preparation and care of deceased individuals, ensuring they are respectfully handled and presented for viewings or other services as required. Maintain a clean and organized environment within the mortuary and support the funeral staff in administrative tasks.
ACADEMIC SPECIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school certificate with experience working in a Mortuary.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely and respectfully transporting deceased individuals to the hospital morgue.
- Properly storing bodies in refrigeration units to maintain dignity and hygiene.
- Assisting medical examiners or pathologists during autopsies by preparing equipment and supplies.
- Preparing the body for postmortem examination, including positioning and documentation.
- Washing, dressing, and grooming bodies for viewing or burial, if applicable.
- Applying embalming techniques or chemicals when required.
- Ensuring that all documentation is compliant with hospital policies and legal regulations.
- Keeping the morgue and related areas clean and sanitized.
- Ensuring that all equipment used in handling deceased individuals is properly cleaned and maintained.
- Communicating with families to provide information about the postmortem process and attending to their needs.
- Escorting family members to viewing areas or morgue, ensuring a dignified experience.
- Coordinating and participating in the transport of bodies to relevant facilities or locations as needed.
- Maintaining confidentiality and respect for the deceased and their families at all times.
