JOB PURPOSE
The key purpose of this role is to apply core competencies to achieve optimum plant and process performance.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a process area according to VPO principles and standards.
- Operate as a logical and analytical problem solver in an unstructured environment.
- Work effectively as a team player by communicating, listening, and assisting others.

- Display achievement drive by continuously improving performance and striving to exceed standards.
- Manage process areas according to VPO standards.
- Operate packaging equipment.
- Carry out autonomous operations as defined for the process areas.
- Perform required quality checks and analyses and record results on the appropriate information systems.
- Execute quality checks as outlined in work instructions.
- Respond to results using the VPO tools provided.
- Actively participate in shift meetings by asking questions, contributing suggestions, and recording issues, problems, and improvement opportunities in action logs.
- Fully understand the team Dream and contribute towards achieving it.
- Use relevant communication tools (e.g. shift logbook) to remain informed and communicate important issues.
- Complete effective handovers to incoming shift teams, ensuring plant performance, quality, and maintenance issues are communicated.
- Use VPO problem-solving tools to resolve and record issues when problems occur.
- Identify defective plant equipment and report it to the Process Artisan or Team Leader.
- Assist the Process Artisan/Machine Specialist in carrying out running repairs during shifts.
- Continuously monitor process performance against targets, record short stops, and correct out-of-control conditions using VPO tools.
- Record waste and product movements using the appropriate documentation or information systems and review trends to identify and resolve problems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Internal Criteria
- Grade 12.
- Mechanical/Electrical aptitude.
- Machine-specific experience.
External Criteria
- Technical qualification (N4 or equivalent).
