TEACHING VACANCY

Sisekelo High School is an independent, co-educational institution situated in the southern Lowveld of the Kingdom of Eswatini. With over thirty years of excellence in education, the school has established an outstanding academic record in the IEB International Senior Certificate (ISC) examinations and enjoys a strong reputation for delivering quality education.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following position:


POSITION: HEAD OF DEPARTMENT – ENGLISH


ROLE OVERVIEW
The Head of Department will provide visionary academic leadership within the department, support the executive team in the effective management of the school, and drive Sisekelo High School’s vision of academic excellence. As a key member of the leadership team, the successful candidate will not only mentor teachers and oversee curriculum delivery, but also actively contribute to institutional strategy execution, performance tracking, and the operationalization of our core values.


DUTIES AND COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrate commitment to subject-related duties and departmental activities.

  • Contribute directly to the execution of the school’s strategic roadmap, tracking departmental milestones and reporting on progress metrics.

  • Possess a sound understanding and working knowledge of the IEB-ISC curriculum and assessment procedures.

  • Manage departmental staff development through structured mentoring and performance evaluation frameworks.

  • Understand and uphold the ethos and practices of independent schools.

  • Demonstrate excellent computer literacy and the ability to integrate various electronic learning platforms into teaching and learning.

  • Exhibit strong communication and collaboration skills with learners, colleagues, and parents.

  • Participate fully in the life of the school, including sports and co-curricular activities.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A BA Humanities or B.Ed. degree with English as a major, coupled with a recognized professional teaching qualification.

  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ teaching experience, with proven experience in a subject head or leadership capacity.

  • Deep familiarity with the IEB-ISC Curriculum and Assessment Manuals (CAMS), with a track record of translating curriculum standards into measurable academic success.

  • Proven commitment to driving curriculum innovation, staff mentorship, and academic excellence.
