Job Description

Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining financial management frameworks, accounting processes, reporting standards, and financial controls that support business operations and strategic objectives. Ensure full compliance with IFRS, regulatory requirements, and internal governance standards. Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, performance analysis, and decision support for Retail Banking while providing strategic financial insights to the Executives.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Coordinate and manage the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting cycles.
  • Prepare detailed financial forecasts, scenario analysis, and long-term financial plans.
  • Monitor business performance against strategic and financial targets.
  • Analyse variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

 

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial reports and statutory returns.
  • Ensure financial statements comply with IFRS, regulatory requirements, and Group policies.
  • Present financial performance reports to EXCO and senior management.
  • Maintain accountability for the integrity and accuracy of financial information.

 

Business Partnering

  • Partner with Retail Banking leadership teams to support business objectives.
  • Provide value-adding financial analysis and commercial advice.
  • Support pricing, product profitability assessments, and investment decisions.
  • Assist business units in evaluating strategic initiatives and business cases

 

Governance, Risk and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation, banking regulations, and internal policies.
  • Monitor financial risks and implement mitigating controls.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure closure of audit findings within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain effective financial governance frameworks and controls.

 

Cost and Performance Management

  • Develop frameworks to monitor financial and operational performance.
  • Analyse business cost drivers and identify optimisation opportunities.
  • Monitor expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Establish performance indicators and Balanced Scorecards.
  • Drive initiatives that improve efficiency and productivity.

 

Financial Information Management

  • Develop and maintain financial information strategies and management reporting frameworks.
  • Manage relationships with systems providers and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure data integrity and reliability within finance systems.
  • Support automation and digital transformation initiatives within Finance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Commerce, or related field.
  • CA(SA)
  • Postgraduate Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration (MBA), or related.
  • Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in Finance, Management Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), or Banking Finance.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience within the Banking or Financial Services industry would be an added advantage.
