SENIOR ENGINEER: CORE NETWORK

EPTC invites applications from suitably qualified telecommunications professionals for the position of Senior Engineer: Core Network. Reporting to the Senior Manager: Infrastructure, the successful candidate will be responsible for engineering, operating and assuring the performance and integrity of EPTC’s core network infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engineer, operate and assure the performance and integrity of the core and IP core networks, spanning gateway, multimedia switching, transmission and data links.
  • Plan, commission and integrate new core systems, upgrades and technology enhancements in line with EPTC strategy and international standards.
  • Ensure network availability through proactive monitoring, analysis, and corrective and preventative maintenance.
  • Safeguard the core network systems through security hardening, redundancy and disaster-recovery measures.
  • Support OPEX/CAPEX budgeting, resource control, and vendor and SLA management.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the engineering team and set performance targets.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering.
  • Relevant Advanced IP Networking certification (CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP or equivalent).
  • At least eight (8) years’ telecommunications network engineering experience, with three (3) years in a senior or specialist core-network role.
  • Proven technical expertise across gateway, IMS switching, transmission and IP routing domains.
  • Sound knowledge of network security, capacity planning and change management.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Core network architecture and IP routing protocols (MPLS, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS).
  • IMS and transmission systems (DWDM/OTN, SDH, microwave backhaul).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management ability.
  • Effective leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Resilience under pressure with a results-driven, solutions-oriented approach.

SENIOR MANAGER: CUSTOMER SERVICES

EPTC invites applications from experienced telecommunications professionals for the position of Senior Manager: Customer Services. Reporting to the Chief Technology & Information Officer, the successful candidate will lead customer service operations and ensure high-quality service delivery across the organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Customer Service operations across the regions, ensuring quality installations, commissioning and service delivery to EPTC standards.
  • Direct preventative and corrective maintenance of the network, access, switching, transmission and exchange-line infrastructure.
  • Manage regional assets, sites and base stations, ensuring safety, security and effective resource control.
  • Prepare and control the OPEX/CAPEX budget, monitoring performance and addressing variances.
  • Drive customer satisfaction by resolving escalated complaints and strengthening regional relationships.
  • Lead manpower planning, performance management, staff development, and maintain a sound industrial relations climate.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BSc Degree majoring in Telecommunications.
  • Postgraduate Diplomas in Project Management and Business Management.
  • At least ten (10) years’ managerial experience in the telecommunications environment.
  • Extensive experience in telecommunications systems, particularly installations and maintenance.
  • Applied knowledge of Human Resources Management.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Advanced project management and telecommunications network/systems planning.
  • Knowledge of quality standards for telecommunications products and services.
  • Strong leadership, planning, business and financial acumen.
  • Customer-focused approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability supported by emotional intelligence.
