VACANCY – MECHANICAL FITTER

USA Distillers has a vacancy for a Mechanical Fitter. Applications from suitably qualified candidates who are qualified for the above-mentioned post are invited.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the installation, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery to ensure optimal operational performance.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Perform maintenance, inspections and servicing of plant equipment on a rotating shift.
• Install threaded pipe fittings.
• Assemble, install, align and fit mechanical components, equipment and machinery according to technical drawings and specifications.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs on plant and production machinery.
• Replace worn or damaged parts such as bearings, seals, shafts, belts and gears.
• Use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments and precision equipment safely and effectively.
• Conduct equipment alignment, balancing and calibration activities.
• Assist with machinery overhauls, shutdowns and installation projects.
• Keep work areas clean, organized and free from hazards.
• Ensure all work complies with safety, health and environmental regulations.
• Ensure smooth shift handovers and proper communication of equipment status.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical Fitting or a related mechanical trade.
• National Certificate, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Valid certification or artisan qualification recognized by the relevant authority.
• 2–5 years’ experience in a mechanical fitting or maintenance environment.

• Mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding.
• Equipment installation and maintenance.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Use of precision measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Preventive maintenance techniques.
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Teamwork and communication skills.
• Safety awareness and compliance.
