VACANCY – MECHANICAL FITTER

USA Distillers has a vacancy for a Mechanical Fitter. Applications from suitably qualified candidates who are qualified for the above-mentioned post are invited.
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the installation, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery to ensure optimal operational performance.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform maintenance, inspections and servicing of plant equipment on a rotating shift.
- Install threaded pipe fittings.
- Assemble, install, align and fit mechanical components, equipment and machinery according to technical drawings and specifications.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs on plant and production machinery.
- Replace worn or damaged parts such as bearings, seals, shafts, belts and gears.
- Use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments and precision equipment safely and effectively.
- Conduct equipment alignment, balancing and calibration activities.
- Assist with machinery overhauls, shutdowns and installation projects.
- Keep work areas clean, organized and free from hazards.
- Ensure all work complies with safety, health and environmental regulations.
- Ensure smooth shift handovers and proper communication of equipment status.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical Fitting or a related mechanical trade.
- National Certificate, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Valid certification or artisan qualification recognized by the relevant authority.
- 2–5 years’ experience in a mechanical fitting or maintenance environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding.
- Equipment installation and maintenance.
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
- Use of precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Preventive maintenance techniques.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Teamwork and communication skills.
- Safety awareness and compliance.
