KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts regular inspections and evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with health and safety standards and local legislation.
  • Ensures facility design meets all local legislation and company health & safety standards.
  • Performs safety acceptance inspections and risk assessments for new or modified equipment, ensuring appropriate hazard controls are implemented.
  • Leads investigations into workplace accidents and incidents, identifies root causes, and implements corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Coordinates and manages on-site contractors, reviews safety plans, and evaluates compliance to ensure adherence to site safety requirements.
  • Develops and maintains medical monitoring programs for employees.
  • Develops and maintains industrial hygiene programs such as noise, illumination, ergonomics, dust and ventilation surveys.
  • Review and update safety related procedures, manuals, forms & work instructions.
  • Selects and provides training for appropriate PPE for plant applications.
  • Assist in executing capital projects relating to ESLP department.
  • Co-ordinates Safety & Health legal compliance audits.
  • Co-ordinate internal & external ISO 45001 audits.
  • Develops and maintains emergency response plans and ensures availability of emergency equipment.
  • Provides safety training and coaching to employees, contractors, security officers, and drivers; supports onboarding and refresher programs in line with legal and organizational requirements.
  • Maintains accurate safety-related records and prepares weekly or periodic reports on safety performance for management review.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BSc in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • 5 years’ experience in a safety related function.
  • SAMTRAC & ISO 45001 certification would be an added advantage.

Location: Manzini, Eswatini

Travel Required: 00% – 25%
