2. POSITION OVERVIEW
The ESQF Level 4 Diesel Plant Fitter/Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and fault diagnosis of heavy construction equipment and diesel-powered machinery to ensure maximum uptime, reliability, and safe operation.
3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will carry out preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, and mechanical overhauls on heavy plant equipment. This includes diesel engine repairs, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and general fault diagnosis.
The role includes equipment inspections, accurate completion of job cards and service records, and ensuring all work is done to manufacturer and company standards. The Artisan will also support workshop teams during major repairs and ensure strict compliance with SHEQ standards, including safe work practices and proper use of PPE.
4. EQUIPMENT EXPOSURE
Excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, rollers, tipper trucks, water bowsers, and other Light & heavy construction equipment.
5. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must hold a Class One Trade Test Certificate in Diesel Plant Fitting, Heavy Equipment Mechanics, or Automotive Mechanical Engineering (Plant).
- ESQF Level 4 Artisan Qualification, obtained through a recognised TVET Trade Test.
- National Certificate/Diploma or equivalent.
- Highly Computer literate.
- Driver’s licence.
- Any management qualification will be an added advantage.
A minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience on heavy plant or construction equipment is required. A valid driver’s licence is essential. Experience in construction or mining environments will be an advantage.
