Key Responsibilities:

Purpose of the position:

The Communication Assistant will support the implementation of the UWSC communication strategy in liaison with the Communications and Advocacy Lead. The role will ensure project visibility through the development of communication products, management of social media platforms, and dissemination of key messages. The Communication Assistant will also liaise with media houses to strengthen outreach and public engagement

Communication Strategy Implementation

  • Support the implementation of the UWSC communication strategy in alignment with national priorities and donor requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with World Vision Partnership communication policies and standards, with quarterly compliance reports submitted.
  • Represent the Communications & Advocacy Lead in internal and external forums when delegated, documenting outcomes and partnerships secured.
  • Coordinate with Programme, DMEAL, and technical teams to align communication activities with project objectives.
  • Monitor and report on communication activities, ensuring timely delivery against agreed KPIs and targets

Communication Products and Marketing

  • Produce high-quality communication materials (stories, photos, videos, briefs) on a frequent basis as defined by the Communication strategy and market demands.
  • Develop branding and storytelling content for project launches and closures, ensuring delivery of complete communication packages per event.
  • Generate evidence-based content in collaboration with DMEAL to support marketing campaigns and stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop and disseminate communication materials across digital and mainstream media platforms, tracking reach and engagement metrics.
  • Ensure all content adheres to branding guidelines and reflects organizational priorities and impact.

Media Engagements and Visibility

  • Manage and regularly update social media platforms, ensuring consistent posting schedules and audience growth targets.
  • Liaise with media houses to secure regular media coverage and publicity opportunities.
  • Support planning and execution of campaigns and public events, ensuring documented participation and engagement outcomes.
  • Ensure visibility of grant-funded projects through targeted communication initiatives, with evidence of donor visibility compliance.
  • Support World Vision Eswatini’s participation in national and international campaigns, achieving defined representation targets.

Strategic Partnerships and Resource Mobilisation

  • Support development of all engagement materials (e.g., position papers, briefs) informed by programme evidence and policy priorities.
  • Document and disseminate programme impact stories to support donor engagement and funding proposals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align communication outputs with resource mobilisation efforts and funding opportunities.
  • Engage communities and stakeholders to produce ethical storytelling content that promotes child wellbeing and participation.
  • Support implementation and monitoring of marketing campaigns, ensuring achievement of defined objectives and outreach targets

Other Competencies/Attributes:

  • Good communication and mobilization skills
  • Good driving skills
  • Able to stand above denominational diversities.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/ and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • A Degree in Communications or Public Relations from a recognised University
  • Excellent storytelling skills, knowledge of photography, graphic design, and video-production.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in public relations work, leading corporate communication and mass media linkages
  • Strong writing, photography, videography, graphic design, and video editing skills.
  • Ability to think and look at issues broadly to inform content-production processes.
  • Consistently demonstrates tactical savvy in delivery of technical assistance.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with all levels of staff and to motivate and mobilise other staff or individuals to achieve agreed plans.
  • Comfort and confidence working in a diverse and inclusive team environment.
  • Ability to maintain performance expectation in diverse cultural context, psychologically stressful environment and physical hardship conditions with limited resources
  • Working knowledge of local language.

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Field-based with logistics and reporting done at the National office
  • Travel: 100% Domestic.
  • On call: on call to serve on emergency and crisis response
