Workshop Supervisor
Department: Production — Workshop
Reports to: Production Manager
Location: Matsapha
Macsteel Eswatini invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Workshop Supervisor. This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the workshop operations at Macsteel’s Matsapha facility, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved. The successful candidate will lead a dedicated team and report directly to the Production Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and coordinate all workshop production activities, ensuring output targets and quality standards are consistently met.
- Lead, motivate, and manage workshop floor staff, conducting performance reviews and identifying training needs.
- Oversee the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and servicing of all workshop machinery and equipment.
- Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations across all workshop operations.
- Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimise productivity.
- Liaise with the Production Manager and other department heads to align workshop output with business requirements.
- Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and stock utilisation logs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures, and ISO quality management standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Production Management, or a related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience in a steel, manufacturing, or heavy industrial workshop environment.
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary workshop teams.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate teams under pressure.
- Sound knowledge of workshop processes, tooling, and fabrication techniques.
- Excellent understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and problem-solve in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and production management systems.
- Reliability, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
