STRATEGY AND COMMUNICATION OFFICER

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of ENTC’s strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with national development priorities and communication frameworks that strengthen the organization’s visibility, stakeholder engagement, and conservation mandate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate development and review of ENTC’s Strategic Plan and Annual Work Plans.
  • Package ENTC programs for funding opportunities that highlight alignment with national priorities and donor frameworks.
  • Build strategic partnerships with national and regional stakeholders to advance ENTC’s role in conservation and heritage within the broader development agenda.
  • Develop and implement Communication Strategy that positions ENTC within national development discourse.
  • Ensure communication activities comply with organizational, national, and sectoral policies, reinforcing ENTC’s credibility as a national development partner.
  • Promote awareness of ENTC’s mandate and its contribution to national development priorities in conservation and heritage.
  • Ensure consistent brand identity that reflects ENTC’s contribution to national development and conservation goals.
  • Compile quarterly Board, PEU, Parliament and Annual performance reports demonstrating ENTC’s alignment with national development priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Strategic Management, Communications, Public Relations, Environmental Studies, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification (MBA, MPA, MA in Communication) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in strategic planning, communications, or stakeholder engagement, with demonstrated ability to align institutional strategies to national development priorities, preferably in public sector or conservation related institutions.
  • Proven experience in media liaison, branding, and digital content management.

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS

  • Ability to integrate organizational strategy within national development frameworks.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical capability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, graphic design tools, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
