SHERQ OFFICER

Location: Nsoko Headquarters (with periodic travel to Riverside and Kubuta farm sections)

Nisela Farms is seeking to employ a suitably qualified and experienced professional in the role of SHERQ Officer, based at our Nsoko Headquarters, with periodic travel to Riverside and Kubuta farm sections.

The SHERQ Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and systems that ensure workplace safety, environmental compliance, quality assurance, and regulatory adherence across operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures and strategies.

• Investigate incidents, accidents, non-conformances and causes of ill-health to root-cause.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environment, and quality regulations.

• Promote a safety culture by leading by example.

• Facilitate internal training for employees, induction, plans, and correct use of PPE.

• Develop and review emergency plans and ensure readiness of emergency equipment and systems.

• Compile SHERQ strategic and operational reports.

• Coordinate monthly safety committee meetings.

Skills and Competencies

• Proven experience in health and safety management.

• Hazard identification, risk assessment, and problem-solving.

• Excellent communication, training, and facilitation abilities.

• High level of attention to detail with a strong compliance orientation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.

• Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience with at least 5 years in a middle management role.

• Experience in an agriculture and workshop environment.

• SAMTRAC certification will be an advantage.
