PRINCIPAL AERONAUTICAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT OFFICER (PRINCIPAL AIM OFFICER)
Division: Airports Operations Division Reports To: Chief Aeronautical Information Management Officer Station: King Mswati III International Airport (Sikhuphe) with occasional travelling to ESWACAA Head Office (Matsapha)
JOB PURPOSE
The Principal AIM Officer is responsible for overseeing the effective management of static and dynamic data required to support safe aircraft operations. The Officer prepares and maintains up-to-date Integrated Aeronautical Information Package (IAIP), technical documents (ICAO and IAIP of Foreign States), Aeronautical Maps and Charts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate the collection and collation of raw data for the processing of static and dynamic data, IAIP, aeronautical maps and charts.
- Verify aeronautical data published in draft AIS products to ensure accuracy and compliance with data quality specifications before forwarding to Chief AIM Officer for approval.
- Supervise day-to-day operations of staff working at Briefing, and AIP/NOTAM section to ensure optimal utilization of staff.
- Coordinate the processing of non-AIP maps, WGS-84 Surveys, and acquisition of e-TOD as applicable.
- Analyse requirements for ICAO publications and other technical library documents and advise the Chief AIM Officer on the acquisition of required documents.
- Conduct OJT at AIP/MAP/NOTAM and Briefing offices and submits training reports.
- Ensure the implementation of quality assurance and risk mitigation measures in processing dynamic and static data, IAIP, and aeronautical maps and charts.
- Prepare Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual reports.
- Participate in any investigation that may arise from any reported hazard, accident, or incident.
- Monitor all equipment usage in AIM and ensure compliance with safety and health requirements/standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Information Services, Air Traffic Management, Geography, Geography Information Systems (GIS), Information Management (or equivalent).
- Certificate in Aeronautical Information Services basic training (AIS ICAO 021).
- Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) Supervisory Management.
- Certificate in Quality Management and Safety Management Systems.
- Certificate in AMHS/AIS/AIM Systems.
- On-the-Job (OJT) Instructor Training.
Added Advantage:
- Training in PANS OPS and Aeronautical Charts development.
- Training in PBN for AIM.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Five (5) years’ work experience as Aeronautical Information Management Officer.
- Proven experience in people management.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Full Aviation Security Clearance.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Proficiency in Auto CAD and GIS applications.
- Proficiency in database applications.
- Leadership skills.
- User knowledge of AIS systems and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of ICAO and relevant applications.
- User knowledge of AFTN and AMHS systems.
- Well-mannered extrovert with the ability to interact with people of all levels.
- Willingness to work long and awkward hours.
- Passion and interest in the aviation industry.
