Process Technician (2)
Key Responsibilities
-
Safely manage and maintain the RO and Demineralization plants to recover high-quality water from process streams for high-pressure boilers and effectively manage spares.

Oversee and execute water quality testing of samples, including operation and calibration of online flame photometers.

Execute corrective actions and adjustments based on test results and analysis of plant performance data.

Troubleshooting and problem-solving fault and failure modes, i.e., mechanical or chemical.

Generate management reports in terms of plant performance, water quality, and associated operational requirements.

Oversee and take responsibility for scheduling and the undertaking of Chemical, CIP cycles, and High-Pressure Cleaning operations.

Monitor KPIs to track performance and flag any issues.

Control stocks of chemicals, materials, and consumables required for the operations of the Plant.

Collaborate and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and make technical and operational plant information available.

Support management decisions regarding budgets, operating costs, plant resourcing and requirements, introduction or revision of SOPs and Work Instructions.

Work with the Projects team on the commissioning and start-up of new equipment during factory expansion projects.

Schedule activities and supervise plant personnel, i.e., guidance, training, monitoring attendance, conduct, and performance.

Promote and adhere to Company procedures, policies, and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).
Job Requirements

Minimum: Chemical Engineering Diploma, Degree advantageous.

2+ years of post-experience in a heavy industry environment is advantageous.

Proficiency in conductivity monitoring and chemical testing for boiler feed water.
-
Experience using planned maintenance systems like Maximo and SAP will be an added advantage.
-
Able to work methodically and systematically in a sugar mill environment.
