VACANCY: PRINCIPAL MAGISTRATE
Applications are invited from suitable candidates for appointment to fill the positions tenable in the Judiciary.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible to the Chief Justice through the office of the Registrar of the High Court.
- Responsible for the development, maintenance and implementation of work plan/programme for the Judicial officers under his supervision.
DUTIES
Over and above the duties and functions enlisted under Magistrates, Principal Magistrates have the following additional duties:
- To prepare and compile reports on the day-to-day business of the Courts as necessary;
- To prepare a budget for the Courts in the regions;
- To review and update systems and procedures for the improvement of productivity, efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of justice in the regions;
- To supervise Magistrates and support staff in regions;
- To prepare a duty roster for Magistrates and staff members;
- To prepare and forward quarterly and annual reports to Registrar of the High Court;
- To prepare and keep an inventory for all Government property in their respective Courts;
- To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Justice or Registrar of the High Court.
QUALIFICATION
- LLB Degree
- Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of Eswatini;
- At least seven (7) years experience on the Magistracy bench.
SALARY
The basic salary is on Grade E5
SUPERANNUATION
The successful candidate will become a member of the Public Service Pension Fund after completing an initial probationary service of six (6) months. Applications must be accompanied by the candidate’s Curriculum Vitae and certified copies of the required qualification. Candidates who do not possess the above qualifications should not apply as their applications will not be considered.
