Job Description

The Manager – Fintech Operations is responsible for managing operational activities, third-level customer support, training, and capacity building within the Fintech division. The role also oversees the setup and management of subscribers, agents, and merchants.

The Manager – Fintech Operations reports to the Head: Fintech Commercial and works closely with supervisors. The role also liaises with the Group Fintech Commercial Operations team when required.


Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development & Implementation

  • Implement strategies cascaded by the functional lead and support the development of sub-functional strategies.

  • Ensure effective execution of the functional strategy within the Fintech Operations unit.

Staff Leadership & Management

  • Promote strong collaboration and effective teamwork within the division.

  • Maintain open communication channels with staff and support change management initiatives under the supervision of the Head: Fintech Commercial.

  • Set KPIs and conduct regular performance reviews.

  • Manage team performance in line with HR policies and labour legislation.

  • Foster a Fintech-centric partnership approach and strengthen collaboration across departments while ensuring adherence to Group governance.

Governance

  • Implement risk mitigation measures and internal controls under the guidance of the Head: Fintech Commercial.

  • Evaluate Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators.

  • Work within approved budgets for internal projects and provide input when required.

  • Manage escalations affecting critical service delivery processes and update the Senior Manager Fintech Commercial accordingly.

  • Identify operational risks, issues, and dependencies and implement mitigation plans.

Performance Management

  • Monitor operational performance and ensure alignment with divisional strategy.

  • Review SLA approvals and manage performance exceptions.

Budget Management

  • Assist in managing departmental budgets in line with business objectives.

  • Support the management of project budgets where necessary.


Operational Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all Fintech operational activities.

  • Provide operational support to internal MTN Fintech teams and third-party partners.

  • Develop and ensure adherence to Fintech operational policies, processes, and procedures.

  • Manage partner bank relationships and service support.

  • Oversee reconciliations of internal accounts and coordinate with Finance for resolution.

  • Manage agent commission payments.

  • Oversee activation of subscriber, merchant, and agent accounts and ensure timely resolution of related queries.

  • Ensure regular updates of user guides and operational manuals.

  • Maintain customer records in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Lead the development and implementation of training programs for internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Coordinate Mobile Money governance, audit, and risk management activities.

  • Support product development, testing, training, and implementation.


Customer Support Responsibilities

  • Lead customer experience initiatives within the Fintech division.

  • Work closely with the MTN Customer Experience team to manage third-level query resolution.

  • Coordinate support across MTN customer touchpoints, including:

    • Service Centres

    • Contact Centres

    • Connect Stores

    • Other MTN divisions


Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related professional qualification.

Experience

  • 4 – 6 years of relevant experience in a similar role.

  • At least 2 years in a managerial position.

  • Experience in Fintech, Banking, or Mobile Money is an advantage.

  • Experience in a global or multinational environment with exposure to emerging markets is preferred.

Job Description

The Fintech Accountant: Accounts Payables & Fixed Assets is responsible for managing end-to-end accounts payable processes, ensuring timely supplier payments, maintaining an accurate fixed assets register, and supporting financial control for all Fintech operations.

The role ensures compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, IFRS standards, and company policies, while improving accuracy, efficiency, and financial integrity across the Fintech ecosystem.


Key Responsibilities

Fixed Assets Management

  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date Fixed Assets Register (FAR) for Fintech assets.

  • Track asset additions, disposals, transfers, and capitalisation in line with IFRS and company policy.

  • Prepare and post monthly depreciation journals.

  • Conduct periodic physical verification of assets with relevant departments.

  • Ensure alignment of fixed asset data with procurement, inventory, and technical teams.

  • Monitor Capital Work in Progress (CWIP) and ensure timely capitalisation.


Accounts Payables Management

  • Ensure creditors and supplier payments are accurate and processed within agreed payment terms.

  • Receive invoices from suppliers.

  • Verify in the NetSuite system if there is an order linked to the invoice.

  • Bill services in the system according to the invoice.

  • Attach the invoice to the bill and ensure amounts match the invoice value.

  • Once authorised by the Finance Manager, create the supplier invoice in the system.

  • Process payments in the Sage system to settle invoices.

  • After payment approval, attach remittance and proof of payment in the system.

  • Request monthly supplier statements and reconcile them against processed invoices and payments.

  • Follow up on unmatched goods received vouchers and reconcile supplier statements.

  • Prepare an accrual list for invoices or delivery notes not processed in the current month.

  • Print and file monthly age analysis and audit trail.

  • Ensure withholding tax payments are made on time and certificates sent to suppliers.

  • Ensure VAT reverse charges are paid on time to ERS (Eswatini Revenue Service).

  • Ensure payment remittances are sent to suppliers.

  • Reconcile the Accounts Payable module against the AP General Ledger.


Financial Reporting & Control

  • Prepare month-end journals for Accounts Payables, Fixed Assets, accruals, and prepayments.

  • Contribute to monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and reporting packs.

  • Support internal controls and process documentation for AP and Fixed Assets processes.

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS standards, group policies, regulatory requirements, and local statutory frameworks.


Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or a related professional qualification.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Experience in Fintech, Banking, or Mobile Money is an advantage.

  • Experience working in a global or multinational environment, with understanding of emerging markets, is preferred.
