Job Opportunity: Maintenance officer / Handyman
Location: Nhlangano, Mahamba – Masibini Area
About Us & the role
MAIS AFRICA is a non-governmental organization (NGO) with these projects: a Community Centre, a Clinic, and a Children’s Home.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of all facilities including workshops, classrooms, offices, sports infrastructure, accommodations, and other areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repairs (basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry).
- Carry out routine and preventive maintenance of buildings and facilities.
- Support minor renovations and installations.
- Support institutional events and activities.
- Use and maintain hand tools and power tools safely.
- Assist with stock/supplies loading or offloading and keeping records.
- Monitor facilities for safety issues and report hazards.
- Coordinate maintenance tasks with groundman, management, and external technicians.
Skills & Requirements
- Proven experience as a handyman or maintenance worker.
- Strong problem-solving skills and practical approach.
- Ability to work independently and reliably.
- No Criminal record.
- Professional level of spoken and written English (mandatory).
- Valid driver’s license (mandatory).
Education & Experience
- High school certificate or equivalent.
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Technical training certificate is an advantage.
