QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.

Registration with the relevant professional council/authority.

At least 1–2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting (entry-level acceptable for smaller clinics).

Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and quality assurance practices.

Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY AND OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
The Laboratory Technologist will provide accurate, timely, and reliable laboratory services that support patient diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention at the clinic level. The role ensures compliance with quality standards, safety protocols, and ethical practices in all laboratory operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Collect, label, and process patient specimens (blood, urine, stool, swabs, etc.) following standard procedures.

Ensure proper storage and transportation of samples.

Perform routine diagnostic tests (haematology, microbiology, serology, chemistry, parasitology).

Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.

Record and interpret test results accurately.

Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality control measures.

Perform QA and proficiency testing.

Ensure safe disposal of laboratory waste.
-
Comply with national and clinic-level health regulations.
-
Provide laboratory results to clinicians in a timely manner.

Assist in counselling patients on specimen collection when necessary.

Collaborate with healthcare teams to support patient care.

Monitor and manage laboratory supplies and reagents.
-
Prepare reports on laboratory activities and submit to clinic management.
-
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Attend unit and programme meetings.
-
Carry out other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
