Main Purpose of the Job

Umtfombo Group Holdings is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Accountant to manage and report on the company’s financial performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing ledgers, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting audits. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting to support strategic decision-making.

Key Performance Areas

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g. IFRS, GAAP).
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
• Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.
• Monitor and analyze financial data and produce financial reports.
• Ensure timely and accurate posting of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in the preparation of tax returns (VAT, corporate tax, etc.).
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
• Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
• Provide financial support and analysis to other departments.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (essential).
• Professional certification (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CA) preferred or currently in progress.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in financial accounting or a similar role.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage Pastel).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
