Job Title: Director – VVIP Operations & Terminal

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Director VVIP Operations & Terminal is responsible for the strategic leadership, governance, and operational excellence of all VVIP aviation operations and terminal services for the National Airline. The role ensures the delivery of secure, discreet, world-class aviation and terminal services aligned with royal protocol, national interest, regulatory requirements, and the expectations of the King’s Office. The Director VVIP Operations & Terminal carries personal accountability for decisions and actions impacting royal safety, aviation security, national reputation, diplomatic relations, and operational continuity. Failure in governance, safety, security, or discretion may have national level consequences and will be subject to executive and state scrutiny.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. OPERATIONS
- Provide strategic and operational oversight of all VVIP aviation and terminal operations.
- Ensure end to end planning and execution of VVIP flights and terminal services.
- Ensure operational readiness, asset availability and continuity of service.
- Translate strategy into annual operational plans and targets.
2. SAFETY & SECURITY
- Ultimate accountability for safety and security of VVIP aviation operations.
- Ensure compliance with Safety Management System (SMS) and security frameworks.
- Liaise with state security agencies on threat assessments and mitigations.
- Oversee safety risk assessments, audits, and corrective actions.
3. STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
- Manage relationships with government, regulators, diplomatic missions and state agencies.
- Manage expectations, special requests, and sensitive engagements in liaison with Group CEO.
- Resolve operational or protocol issues and concerns.
4. GOVERNANCE & COMPLIANCE
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks, policies and SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with national and international aviation regulations.
- Ensure confidentiality, information security and ethical conduct.
- Oversee audits, inspections and regulatory engagements.
5. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
- Develop and manage the VVIP Operations & Terminal budget.
- Monitor expenditure and control costs.
- Ensure value for money and governance in procurement.
6. RISK & CRISIS MANAGEMENT
- Identify and manage operational, reputational, diplomatic and security risks.
- Maintain and report on VVIP risk registers.
- Lead response to crises, emergencies and security threats.
- Activate contingency and business continuity plans.
7. SERVICE EXCELLENCE
- Ensure adherence to royal protocol and international VVIP standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in service quality and experience.
- Oversee etiquette, presentation, conduct and customer experience standards.
8. LEADERSHIP
- Provide executive leadership, direction and role model behaviour.
- Lead, mentor and develop VVIP Operations & Terminal teams.
- Ensure staff capability, discipline and performance management.
- Build succession and organisational resilience.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
- A recognized Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, or Business Administration or equivalent.
- Relevant professional certifications in aviation operations, safety, or security will be advantageous.
Advantageous:
- Postgraduate qualification (MBA, MBL, MSc, MA, or equivalent) in Business, Strategy, Finance, Aviation Management, or Public Administration.
- An Airline Transport Pilot’s License will be advantageous.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required Experience:
- Minimum of 10–15 years’ experience in aviation operations, VVIP services, military, security, or a comparable high-protocol environment.
- Minimum 10 years executive or senior leadership experience in aviation operations, military, or VVIP/state command environments.
- Proven experience working with heads of state, royal households, or senior government leadership.
- Demonstrated track record in managing complex, high-risk, and confidential operations.
- Strong experience in stakeholder management at executive and government level.
- In-depth knowledge of international aviation regulations, safety, and security requirements.
