VACANCY – DIESEL MECHANIC / HEAVY DUTY AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC
USA Distillers has a vacancy for a Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Duty Automotive Mechanic. Applications from suitable candidates who are qualified for the above mentioned post are invited.
The candidate must possess the following:
- O’ level or IGCSE certificate
- Diploma in Heavy Plant Automotive Mechanics or equivalent
- Five (5) years’ experience in Heavy Duty Automotive Mechanics
- Grade 1 trade certification
- Heavy Duty Driver’s License
- Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good interpersonal skills
- Attentive to details
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on diesel, hydraulic system and related components.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults on heavy plant equipments (excavators, dozer, loaders, cranes, rollers and graders).
- Carry out overhauls and major repairs on diesel engines and heavy plant machinery.
- Conduct regular inspections and testing to ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify defects and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and prepare reports on equipment performance.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety, health, environmental and quality standards.
- Participate in safety meetings and actively promote a safe working environment.
- Work closely with operators and other maintenance personnel to minimize downtime.
- Respond to equipment breakdown and emergencies promptly.
- Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities and part usage.
- Ensure work areas and tools are kept clean, safe and in good working conditions.
- Work overtime when required to support operational needs.
