VACANCY – DIESEL MECHANIC / HEAVY DUTY AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC

USA Distillers has a vacancy for a Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Duty Automotive Mechanic. Applications from suitable candidates who are qualified for the above mentioned post are invited.

The candidate must possess the following:

• O’ level or IGCSE certificate
• Diploma in Heavy Plant Automotive Mechanics or equivalent
• Five (5) years’ experience in Heavy Duty Automotive Mechanics
• Grade 1 trade certification
• Heavy Duty Driver’s License
• Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Good interpersonal skills
• Attentive to details

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on diesel, hydraulic system and related components.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults on heavy plant equipments (excavators, dozer, loaders, cranes, rollers and graders).
• Carry out overhauls and major repairs on diesel engines and heavy plant machinery.
• Conduct regular inspections and testing to ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify defects and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and prepare reports on equipment performance.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety, health, environmental and quality standards.
• Participate in safety meetings and actively promote a safe working environment.
• Work closely with operators and other maintenance personnel to minimize downtime.
• Respond to equipment breakdown and emergencies promptly.
• Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities and part usage.
• Ensure work areas and tools are kept clean, safe and in good working conditions.
• Work overtime when required to support operational needs.
