Cut & Bend Supervisor

Department: Production — Cut & Bend
Reports to: Production Manager
Location: Matsapha

Macsteel Eswatini invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Cut & Bend Supervisor. This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the cut & bend operations at Macsteel’s Matsapha facility, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved. The successful candidate will lead a dedicated team and report directly to the Production Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise daily cut and bend operations, ensuring accurate processing of rebar and structural steel to client specifications.
• Manage and develop the cut and bend team, overseeing shift planning, performance, and discipline.
• Ensure all cutting and bending equipment is operated correctly, safely, and maintained to manufacturer standards.
• Interpret and verify bending schedules, shop drawings, and cutting lists for accuracy prior to processing.
• Monitor material usage, minimise scrap and wastage, and report on production variances.
• Enforce all health and safety protocols, including PPE compliance and safe machine operation.
• Coordinate closely with the despatch and logistics teams to ensure on-time delivery of processed steel.
• Maintain detailed production records including tonnages processed, material consumed, and downtime reports.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Production Management, or a related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience in a cut and bend, rebar processing, or steel fabrication environment.
• Experience reading and interpreting bending schedules and structural drawings.
• Knowledge of rebar grades, standards, and tolerances (SANS/BS standards advantageous).

TECHNICAL COMPETENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

• Strong supervisory and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead production teams effectively.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in processing specifications.
• Solid understanding of steel processing equipment and cutting/bending techniques.
• Good understanding of occupational health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight production schedules.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with ERP/production systems an advantage.
• Reliability, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
