Call for Applications – Consultant for Community Needs Assessment

SOS Children’s Villages Eswatini is seeking the services of a qualified Consultant to conduct a Community Needs Assessment (CNA) in the Siteki and Mbabane Programme Location. The CNA is part of strengthening our Result Based Management (RBM) approach to ensure evidence-based decision making and effective programme response.

Scope of Work

The consultant will:

  • Conduct a desk review of relevant documents and data.
  • Design appropriate data collection tools (surveys, FGDs, interview guides).
  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data from households, focus groups, and key informants.
  • Assess socio-economic status, education, health, livelihoods, youth development, gender, and community infrastructure.
  • Map available assets (land, skills, institutions, services, natural resources).
  • Identify community risks, coping mechanisms, and service gaps.
  • Produce a comprehensive assessment report and facilitate a validation workshop.

Expected Deliverables

  1. Inception Report with methodology, tools, and work plan.
  2. Draft Assessment Report with preliminary findings.
  3. Validation Workshop with stakeholders.
  4. Final Assessment Report (soft and hard copies).

Duration & Timeline

The assignment will take place from 03 November – 03 December 2025.

Required Expertise

  • Proven experience in community assessments or socio-economic research.
  • Strong skills in participatory data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of the Eswatini context and fluency in local languages (advantageous).
  • Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication skills.

  • Lusabeni Under the Nkilongo Inkhundla
  • Phafeni Under the Nkilongo Inkhundla
  • Siphocosini under the Siphocosini Inkhundla
  • Sigangeni under the Siphocosini Inkhundla

 Application Requirements

Interested consultants should submit:

  • A cover letter and detailed CV (individual or team).
  • A brief technical proposal (max 5 pages) outlining methodology and approach.
  • At least 3 references from previous clients.
  • A financial proposal with itemized budget.

 Submission Details

Applications should be hand-delivered to SOS Children’s Villages Eswatini, either Mbabane or  Siteki office, clearly marked “Consultancy – Community Needs Assessment”, no later than 17 October 2025.

SOS Children’s Villages Eswatini reserves the right to accept or reject any application and to annul the process at any time without incurring any liability.
