Position Overview
CHAI is seeking a highly motivated Analyst – Strategy and Financing to support governments across Africa in applying advanced, data-driven planning and financing approaches to reduce malaria cases and deaths.
The Analyst will be part of the Global Malaria Team, providing analytical and strategic support to national malaria programs, including strategic planning, financial modeling, resource mobilization, and program optimization. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Malaria Strategy and Financing (Anglophone & Lusophone Africa) and works closely with CHAI country and regional technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy, Planning & Analysis

Conduct research and prepare concise analytical briefs on malaria strategy, financing, and global trends
-
Develop and maintain Excel-based cost and budget models for malaria interventions
-
Support funding gap analyses and resource mapping exercises
-
Assist with prioritization and optimization of program activities within available funding
Financing & Resource Mobilization
-
Support development of funding proposals, including Global Fund applications
-
Assist malaria programs in improving funding absorption and implementation efficiency
-
Strengthen use of financial and programmatic data to support decision-making
Program Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
-
Support evidence-based program reviews and national strategic and operational planning
-
Build and maintain strong relationships with government counterparts, donors, NGOs, and private-sector partners

Facilitate coordination across internal and external stakeholders
-
Share best practices, updates, and lessons learned across teams
Additional Responsibilities
-
Travel to remote and resource-limited settings as required (approximately 10–50%)
-
Perform other duties as assigned in support of malaria program objectives
Minimum Qualifications
-
Professional fluency in English (written and verbal)
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Health, Policy, International Development, or a related field
-
Minimum of 1 year relevant work experience
-
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
-
Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in high-pressure environments
-
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
-
Willingness to travel extensively, including within rural African settings
Preferred Qualifications

Working proficiency in Portuguese, French, or Spanish
-
Experience working with governments, donors, or multilateral organizations

Experience in low-resource or African settings

Experience working with remote or decentralized teams

Knowledge of malaria, infectious diseases, or global health programs

Background in health finance, public finance, or development finance

Role Overview
CHAI is seeking a highly motivated Associate – Strategy and Financing to support malaria programs across Anglophone Africa, including Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria.
As part of the Malaria Team, the Associate will work closely with governments to tailor malaria strategies to local contexts and to mobilize, manage, and optimize financial resources to reduce malaria morbidity and mortality. The role focuses on strategic planning, financial analysis, resource mobilization, and strengthening data-driven decision-making.
The Associate reports to the Senior Manager – Management, Strategy and Financing (Anglophone & Lusophone Africa) and collaborates closely with CHAI Country Teams and Regional Technical Teams.
Key Responsibilities

Facilitate coordination across government, partners, and internal CHAI stakeholders

Share best practices, updates, and lessons learned across teams and countries
Additional Responsibilities

Travel to remote and resource-limited settings (approximately 50–70% travel)

Perform other duties as required to support malaria program objectives
Required Qualifications
