Physical Education Teacher

We are seeking a dynamic, energetic, and passionate Physical Education Teacher to inspire students to lead active, healthy lifestyles. The ideal candidate will promote physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and overall well-being while creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment in line with the Cambridge curriculum.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree majoring in Physical Education.
  • Experience in teaching IGCSE curriculum will be an added advantage.

  • The ability to foster and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • An ability to be flexible, innovative and embrace change.
  • Computer literacy & experience in integrating I.T into teaching and learning.

  • The ability to embrace diversity, equity and inclusion in Physical Education.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Physical Education lessons in accordance with the Cambridge curriculum and the school’s policies.
  • Teach a broad range of physical activities, sports, games, fitness, and health-related topics that develop students’ physical competence, confidence, and lifelong appreciation for healthy living.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and interests of all learners.
  • Adapt and review the Physical Education curriculum, where necessary, to align with developments in the school’s educational framework, the Cambridge curriculum, and relevant sporting regulations.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles, teamwork, leadership, resilience, discipline, integrity, and good sportsmanship among students.

Classroom Management & Assessment

  • Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes active participation, respect, and positive behaviour.
  • Establish and enforce appropriate standards of student conduct and supervise students during lessons and other school activities, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Teach and enforce safety procedures and risk management practices associated with all sporting and physical education activities.
  • Assess, monitor, record, and report on students’ academic progress, physical development, and achievement using appropriate assessment strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessment results, participation, and other required documentation in accordance with school procedures.
  • Review and monitor the progress of all learners, identify individual learning needs, and implement appropriate interventions in collaboration with the Principal and other relevant staff.

Engagement & Community

  • Prepare reports and information for parent-teacher conferences and communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding students’ progress, performance, and well-being.
  • Organize, coach, and supervise school sports teams, clubs, and extracurricular activities, preparing learners to participate and excel in regional, national, and international competitions where appropriate.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate sports days, inter-house competitions, tournaments, field days, field trips, and other Physical Education and sporting events.
  • Assist teachers and coaches by providing appropriate resources, guidance, and training to support the coaching of different age groups and sporting codes.
  • Research, recommend, and assist in the procurement of appropriate Physical Education and sports equipment and resources.
  • Ensure the safe use, maintenance, security, and accountability of sports facilities, equipment, and resources.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, school leadership, and external stakeholders to support the delivery of the Physical Education program and broader school initiatives.
  • Participate in school-wide behaviour management programs, departmental meetings, professional development activities, and other school initiatives.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, safeguarding, and child protection in accordance with school policies and applicable legislation.
