Managing Director

On behalf of our client Nisela Farms, a well established and diversified agricultural enterprise committed to nurturing the land and producing high-quality agricultural products, suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the position of Managing Director.

JOB PURPOSE

This position provides strategic and operational leadership across the business, driving efficient end-to-end agricultural and real estate operations, high-quality crop production, and the development of downstream value-add opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and manage a dedicated, experienced, and multidisciplinary management team.
• Oversee large-scale and diverse agricultural production operations across multiple farms.
• Drive efficient end-to-end agricultural and real estate operations.
• Ensure high-quality crop production and continuous operational improvement.
• Identify and develop downstream value-add and commercial opportunities.
• Manage production planning, budgeting, cost control, and resource optimization with a strong focus on yield and water efficiency.
• Oversee supply chain management, procurement, logistics, and distribution.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards, quality assurance requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Oversee estate housing, infrastructure, property, and building management.
• Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across the business and industry.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong agricultural expertise with a commercial, data-driven mindset and a holistic approach to farming operations.
• Proven ability to identify and develop downstream value-add opportunities.
• Proficiency in strategic procurement and supply chain management.
• Knowledge of food safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in property and building management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Financial management, planning, and operational execution capabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• A degree in Agricultural Science, BSc Degree in Agriculture (Agronomy) Business Management and/or related fields.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the agricultural industry, with at least 5 years served in a senior management role.
• Strong background in horticulture & crop production.
• Proven experience in managing agricultural operations from planting through to harvest, packing, and logistics.
• Strong agricultural expertise with a commercial, data-driven mindset and a holistic approach to farming operations.
