Sections Supervisor

Department: Warehouse — Sections
Reports to: Warehouse & Logistics Manager
Location: Matsapha


Macsteel Eswatini invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Sections Supervisor. This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the sections operations at Macsteel’s Matsapha facility, supporting production targets, ensuring quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved. The successful candidate will lead a dedicated team and report directly to the Warehouse & Logistics Manager.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise the receiving, sorting, storage, and despatch of structural steel sections including angles, channels, beams, and flats.
  • Manage and develop the sections team, ensuring staff are productive, safe, and working in accordance with company procedures.
  • Coordinate with the sales and logistics teams to ensure accurate and timely picking, preparation, and loading of customer orders.
  • Oversee yard housekeeping, stock organisation, and accurate bin/bay labelling to facilitate efficient stock management.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconciliations, reporting variances to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Ensure all yard equipment; forklifts, cranes, and material handling equipment is operated safely and maintained correctly.
  • Enforce all health and safety regulations, including load-securing procedures, PPE, and pedestrian/vehicle separation.
  • Identify and implement yard layout and process improvements to increase picking efficiency and reduce handling damage.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics/Supply Chain Management, Production Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience in a steel service centre, sections yard, or heavy materials handling environment.
  • Experience in stock management, inventory control, and order fulfilment operations.
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane operation certification advantageous.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy yard environment.
  • Good knowledge of structural steel sections, grades, and sizes.
  • Solid understanding of warehouse/yard management principles and stock control.
  • Strong health and safety awareness, particularly in relation to materials handling and yard operations.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with stock management or ERP systems is an advantage.
  • Reliability, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
