VACANCY: COMPLIANCE INSPECTOR – CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY COUNCIL
Location: Mbabane
The Construction Industry Council seeks to fill the vacancy of a Compliance Inspector. The primary purpose of the position is to inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with the CIC Legislation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with CIC Legislation.
- Carry out inspections to provide guidance on non-compliant contractors and advice on timely corrective action.
- Carry out inspections to ensure the project scope of works aligns with declared applications.
- Carry out inspections to ensure that projects are completed satisfactorily in accordance with approved standards, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Carry out inspections to ensure project values and technical complexity meet the required thresholds for the applied grade level.
- Conduct independent assessments and prepare cost estimates to establish accurate project values for levy assessments.
- Carry out inspections to collect project performance data, including quality of work, compliance with timelines, adherence to safety standards, and overall project delivery, to support the Council’s performance monitoring system.
- Prepare and consolidate inspection reports.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Tertiary Educational Requirements:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or relevant.
Minimum Practical Experience Required:
- 2 years’ working experience in civils or buildings environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Valid driver’s license (Code B).
- Analytical and evaluation skills to interpret CIC legislature and compliance requirements.
- Attention to detail for thorough inspections and accurate reporting.
- Communication skills to convey findings and instructions clearly to stakeholders.
- Problem-solving and ethical judgment to address violations and uphold integrity.
- Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple inspections and meet deadlines.
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams and clients.
- Empathy competence with the ability to understand the other party’s perspective.
- Conflict resolution and negotiating skills.
