ASSISTANT FORESTRY OFFICER
Applications are invited from qualified candidates for appointment to the above posts in the Civil Service tenable in the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs.
QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate must have the following qualifications:
- Must have done and acquired O’Level Certificate
- A minimum qualification of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry or in Natural Resource Management or in Agroforestry or in Biodiversity Conservation is a requirement.
- Minimum of 2 years in any of the above fields or any related field.
- Any other relevant certificate would be an added advantage.
- Computer literate.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Will be responsible to the Senior Assistant Forestry Officer and Forestry Officer.
- To monitor and supervise the implementation of annual forest management plans for all types of forests, plantations and woodlots in Eswatini National Land, Government Land, Urban and Peri-Urban Land
- To implement, monitor and supervise plans for the sustainable utilization and marketing of all forest products
- To carry out and supervise the surveying, assessment and mapping of forests, plantations and woodlots on eSwatini National Land, Government Land Urban and Peri-Urban Land
- To carry out tree seed collection, processing distribution, documentation and nursery management
- To collect, analyse and document forest information, forest statistics and manage information database
- To implement and supervise biological diversity management and conservation programme
- To collect, analyse and document information on forest fires and implement plans for prevention control and sustainable
- To formulate and implement strategies and plans for the prevention, control and sustainable management of fires
- To monitor and supervise introduction and promotion of urban forestry in urban development plans
- To monitor and supervise compliance with forestry and environment policy and legislation as well as provisions of regional and international conventions protocols and cooperation agreements
- To implement and supervise forest policy, forestry programmes and projects, legislation for the management, conservation and protection of forest resources
- To prepare and implement forest projects
- To supervise subordinate staff including equipment and transport resources under his/her charge
- To perform any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time by the immediate supervisor
SALARY
The basic salary is on Grade C5: E247,014 rising to E278,017 per annum.
