JOB TITLE: PUBLIC RELATIONS GRADUATE-IN-TRAINING

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This role reports to the Public Relations Officer and is based in the Corporate Services Department. The main purpose of this position is to support the Public Relations Office in implementing the Council’s stakeholder engagement strategies, communication and branding.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support stakeholder engagement initiatives and community outreach programs.
• Administer the Council’s social media platforms, website, and other digital communication channels to ensure timely and engaging content.
• Assist in the preparation of press releases, speeches, reports, and other communication materials.
• Assist with media relations and support effective coverage of Council events and activities.
• Assist in maintaining brand consistency through design support and coordination of promotional materials.
• Support general administrative duties within the Public Relations Office, including reports and record-keeping.
• Provide creative input into new ideas that promote the Council’s image and service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES

• Bachelor’s/Associate degree in Communication/Public Relations.
• A recent graduate in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field.
• Strong graphic design skills (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar tools).
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Social media savvy with a creative eye.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• One (1) year employment based contract.
