Mangethe Group is a rapidly growing construction and engineering company operating across multiple project sites in Eswatini. The Group is seeking to appoint a highly competent and experienced Plant & Equipment Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership over its workshops, fleet, heavy plant, transport logistics, and technical operatives.
This role carries full accountability for plant availability, fleet reliability, logistics efficiency, maintenance performance, cost control, statutory compliance, and people leadership across all construction operations.
2. Role Purpose
To plan, direct and control all plant, fleet, workshop and logistics operations of Mangethe Group in order to:
• Maximise equipment availability and asset uptime,
• Optimise lifecycle cost of plant and fleet,
• Ensure safe, compliant and reliable operations,
• Support uninterrupted project delivery,
• Strengthen long-term asset sustainability.
The incumbent will lead workshop teams, field service teams, logistics personnel, operators, drivers and technical support staff while implementing world-class plant management systems and controls.
3. Key Duties and Responsibilities
3.1 Strategic Plant, Fleet & Logistics Management
• Develop and implement an integrated Plant, Fleet and Logistics Management Strategy aligned to business and project objectives.
• Establish and manage long-term asset replacement, refurbishment and capital investment plans.
• Continuously evaluate fleet mix and logistics capacity to ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Advise executive management on capital expenditure and fleet optimisation decisions.
• Introduce and manage systems for tracking asset lifecycle cost, utilisation, downtime and performance.
4. Workshop & Maintenance Operations
• Provide overall leadership and control of workshop and field service operations.
• Ensure effective execution of preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes.
• Achieve and sustain high equipment availability to support project timelines.
• Analyse breakdown trends and implement root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures.
• Ensure rapid response to site breakdowns to minimise production losses.
• Enforce high standards of technical workmanship and quality control.
• Ensure accurate maintenance records, job cards, service histories and statutory documentation.
5. Logistics & Transport Management
• Plan and manage the movement of plant, equipment, materials and spares between sites and depots.
• Ensure efficient utilisation of transport fleet and low-bed movements.
• Control fuel management systems and monitor consumption trends.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, licensing, abnormal load requirements and road safety standards.
• Implement logistics performance indicators to measure turnaround time, transport cost and fleet efficiency.
6. Financial & Commercial Control
• Prepare and manage the annual plant, workshop and logistics budget.
• Control maintenance expenditure, spares stock, contractor costs and outsourced repairs.
• Monitor cost per machine hour and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
• Enforce disciplined procurement and stock management systems.
• Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate service level agreements.
• Build commercial awareness within the technical and logistics teams to support profitability.
7. People Management & Leadership
• Lead, mentor and develop Workshop Foremen, Artisans, Mechanics, Drivers and Logistics staff.
• Set performance targets and hold teams accountable for results.
• Identify skills gaps and implement structured training and development programmes.
• Manage workforce planning, productivity targets and overtime control.
• Promote a culture of safety, discipline, accountability and teamwork.
• Support sound industrial relations and fair labour practices.
8. Safety, Health, Environment & Compliance
• Ensure full compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and environmental standards.
• Enforce safe systems of work within workshops and field operations.
• Ensure plant, fleet and lifting equipment are legally certified and roadworthy.
• Maintain statutory records and audit readiness.
• Drive behavioural safety and risk management across technical and logistics teams.

• Preventative maintenance compliance rate
• Reduction in breakdown frequency and repeat failures
• Maintenance and logistics cost control against budget
• Safety performance (workshop and field operations)
• Accuracy and quality of maintenance and logistics reporting

• Audit compliance score for policies and procedures.
10. Minimum Qualifications & Professional Requirements
10.2 Mandatory Qualifications:
• Trade Tested Diesel Plant Fitter (DPF) Class One
• Degree or Advanced Diploma or higher in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering or related discipline
• CILT International Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Transport (added advantage)
• Diploma in Management or Business Management (added advantage).
11. Experience Requirements
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in heavy plant, construction or industrial maintenance environments.
• Proven experience managing:
o Workshops and field service operations, o Heavy plant and transport fleets, o Maintenance budgets and asset performance, o Logistics and fleet deployment.
• Strong exposure to earthmoving equipment, trucks, and construction plant.
