YOUTH INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

The Family Life Association of Eswatini (FLAS) engages youth interns annually to be attached to selected departments of the organisation. This program is aimed at developing the youth, specifically those in the Youth Action Movement (YAM), with career development, leadership, and professional skills. As part of the internship program, the youth interns are encouraged to enrol in institutions of higher learning to have academic knowledge as well as the job training needed.

Job Title: Youth Affairs Intern (1) Department: Youth Affairs Unit Location: Manzini Reporting to: Youth Affairs Officer

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Completed High School (O’Level/SGCSE certificate).
  • A tertiary qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Must be below 24 years of age.
  • Active YAM member.
  • Excellent Communication Skills in both English and Siswati.

Personality and Position Profile:

  • Good interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Well organised, Proactive and able to prioritise.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Youth Friendly.
  • Client Focus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of FLAS Youth Centres (recreational, CSE, and SRHR activities): the intern will supervise the FLAS youth centres with the assistance of the Youth Affairs Officer.
  • Awareness raising on CSE and SRHR to youth, parents, teachers and community leadership.
  • Development of youth activity concepts: the youth will be responsible for providing oversight in the development of activity concepts in line with the comprehensive sexuality education curriculum of our youth sites.
  • Partnership development: the incumbent will be responsible for establishing and maintaining youth partnerships in schools, churches, tertiary institutions, communities, youth organisations, and other development partners.
  • Participants in local, national and international forums (both physical and virtual).
  • Registration for youth action movement membership: The intern will be responsible for the mobilisation and coordination of registration.
  • Reporting: the intern will be responsible for collecting, compiling and submitting data on all YAM activities to the Youth Affairs Officer.
