GIS ADMINISTRATOR

POSITION 2: GIS ADMINISTRATOR
Reporting to the Senior Technical Forester

Main Purpose: Under the general supervision of the Senior Technical Forester, the successful incumbent will maintain and enhance the Geographic Information System (GIS) for Montigny’s landholdings and aid operational staff with spatial data and map products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Edit and enhance the GIS database
• Ensure the GIS is updated with the latest in-field information
• Oversee GPS data capture when required
• Produce maps and spatial data for operational staff

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Geography (majoring in GIS) or Forestry, or relevant qualification
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant GOS experience
• Database management experience
• Good knowledge of silviculture operations

Desirable: Forestry management experience; MicroForest software; Trimble’s Pathfinder software

Key Competencies:

• Proficient in GIS mapping, editing, and analysis
• Strong planning and organizing skills with a proactive approach
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Positive, honest, problem-solving attitude
