JOB OPPORTUNITY: SHERQ OFFICER
Eswatini National Petroleum Company (ENPC) seeks a dynamic and experienced professional to assume the role of SHERQ Officer to be based at the Strategic Oil Reserve Facility construction site at Phuzamoya. Employed on a 36-month fixed term contract, the successful candidate will ensure compliance to safety, health, environmental, risk and quality requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategies: Development of health and safety programmes and strategies and coordination thereof

Incident investigation: Investigate accidents, incidents, non-conformances, causes of ill-health and complaints

Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, applicable standards

Safety culture: Promote safety culture through leading by example and examine ways to improve health and safety standards
-
Training & awareness: Facilitate internal training on employees (Induction, HIRA, correct use of PPE, etc.) on all safety aspects

Emergency preparedness: Develop, conduct, review and update emergency/contingency plans and ensure readiness of emergency equipment and systems

Reporting: Compile SHERQ strategic and operational reports to track performance and submit recommendations for continuous improvement

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
-
Experience working with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 management systems
-
Strength in hazard identification, risk assessment and problem-solving skills
-
Excellent communication and training abilities
-
High attention to detail and compliance-driven mindset
-
Ability to work in a high-risk (e.g. heights, moving plant, hazardous materials, hot works, etc.) and highly regulated environment

Valid driver’s licence and experience
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering or a qualification in a related field

Minimum 3 years SHERQ experience in a construction environment

Experience in chemical or high-risk industrial facilities environment will be an added advantage
-
Professional certification (e.g. SAMTRAC, ISO auditor)
