MERCHANDISER TRAINER
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of the Merchandiser Trainer is to standardize best practice across all stores through the development and implementation of training programmes designed to equip Merchandisers to deliver on their roles as expected. This includes both technical and soft skills.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma in Marketing or a related field. Relevant Bachelor’s degree an added advantage
- 2 years’ merchandising experience in FMCG retail OR 2 years’ experience in training and development in a commercial environment.
- Strong understanding of product knowledge and merchandising and retail techniques
- A valid driver’s licence
- Ability to travel intensively
- Proficient in use of MS Office
- Must own a smartphone

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and deliver training programs for merchandisers using varying channels.
- Train merchandisers on product knowledge, shelf health, merchandising techniques (to include stock rotation, POS maintenance and management, price management, colour breaking, rate of sales), stock counts and retail best practices.
- Complete training call cycle, and track training completion on MacMobile as required.
- Provide training as required to ensure implementation of correct supplier flows in all stores.
- Assess the training needs of merchandisers on a continuous basis, and develop customized training programs.
- Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary improvements.
- Work with merchandisers to troubleshoot problems and provide ongoing support.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
- Technical scheduled training on best practices for front and back of house.
- Ensuring highest merchandising standard is maintained at all times.
