MANAGER ENTERPRISE RISK

A career opportunity is open for a suitably qualified and well experienced individual under the SBS’s Risk Function as Manager Enterprise Risk reporting to Chief Risk Officer. The position is tenable at our Head Office, Mbabane.


PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• As Manager Enterprise Risk you will support the Chief Risk Officer and Senior Management in the development of the SBS’s ERM policies framework and procedures
• Ensure that the ERM policies, framework and processes are embedded in the SBS by providing risk advisory to risk owners, risk monitoring, training and reporting to Senior Management on the status of the SBS’s risk exposure
• Support the management of financial risk through mathematical models, ensuring compliance with ICAAP regulations
• Serve as the Committee (Business Continuity Management) Coordinator for the SBS


Customer Centricity & Stakeholder Management

• Facilitate the identification, evaluation and management of risks across all functional areas of the SBS
• Facilitate the documentation and quarterly review of risk registers and RCSAs
• Assist departments in conducting risk assessments and setting of key risk indicators
• Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and business partners by addressing issues/concerns in timely manner
• Provide support, education, and training to staff to build risk awareness within SBS
• Guide the SBS regarding Asset and Liability Management (ALM)
• Provide professional assistance, relevant data and advice on related mathematical models


Risk Implementation

• Assist in identifying and evaluating enterprise risks across all activities of the SBS
• Oversee the testing of key controls and ensure that any deficiencies are addressed
• Ensure that risk management practices are embedded within the bank’s operations and that a robust risk culture is fostered throughout the organization
• Evaluate new products, services, or systems for potential operational risk exposure before implementation
• Maintain documentation for risk management programs, risk policies and procedures
• Lead and manage incident management processes, including response, investigation and remediation of risk events
• Develop and maintain the SBS’s ICAAP


Risk Compliance

• Assist in capital planning and management, ensuring that the SBS holds sufficient capital to absorb potential losses.
• Work closely with Finance and Treasury teams to optimize capital allocation across business units.
• Monitor compliance with Basel II/ICAAP requirements and other capital adequacy regulations.


Risk Communication and Reporting

• Maintain and ensure consistency of the categorization and definitions of risks and terminologies used throughout the SBS
• Provide regular updates on changes in the banking regulations and their impact on the SBS’s ERM System
• Maintain a database of risk events and track incidents to identify trends and patterns.
• Ensure timely delivery of reports to the CRO and Senior Management


Budget, Forecast and Cost Containment

• In conjunction with the CRO, develop and recommend an annual operating plan and financial budget for the unit
• Coordinate programs designed to anticipate and minimise threats to the SBS which will ultimately minimise potential losses


Team Leadership, Development and Driving Innovation

• Implement the performance management process with respect to self and subordinates
• Build, lead, reward and retain a high-performing risk management team
• Develop and mentor team members to improve their risk analysis and management skills


Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Management, Finance, or Risk Management.
• Post graduate qualification in Risk Management.
• FRM, CFA or CRMA or similar professional qualifications will be an advantage


Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years working experience of which two (2) must be at management level.
• Experience in Risk Management/Control, Compliance, Audit or Business Support/Management role within the Financial Services Industry.


Key Competences

• Sound understanding of Risk Management principles and philosophy
• Good analytical and quantitative skills
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as Basel II, III/IV, ICAAP, and stress testing
• Good knowledge of ALM policies and procedures
• Good business acumen
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects effectively.
• Familiarity with business continuity and incident management processes
• Banking operations and products knowledge
• Problem solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex risk concepts to non-technical audiences
• Good planning and organising skills
• Good Interpersonal skills
• Trustworthy
• Good facilitating and presentation skills
